"Earth, Wind & Fire" has single-handedly made me into a ONEDOOR.

I've been loving this fresh look on 5th Gen K-pop groups nowadays but BOYNEXTDOOR just brought something different to the table.

Launching straight into the chorus? Genius move. It's like they're handing you the hook on a silver platter, getting you pumped from the get-go. In my opinion, BOYNEXTDOOR's upbeat, infectious and playful chorus had me on the edge of my seat, waiting for more. Personally, the first verse was a hit for me. TAESAN and SUNGHO's vocals were absolutely mesmerizing. There's just something about their voices that hits all the right notes in my brain. But I'll admit, for those not fully immersed in the BOYNEXTDOOR universe, the verses might seem a tad straightforward due to it's repetitiveness.

The pre-chorus however is definitely something worth mentioning. The slow-down leading to the playful chorus is perfection in my eyes. It's like they're teasing you before hitting you with that addictive chorus. And speaking of the chorus, it's undeniably the star of the show. The sped-up tempo ("baby boo my sweetie darling think I love you more") taps right into the trend of fast-paced tunes dominating Gen Z playlists. Sure, some might find repetitive choruses a little dull and boring, but for me, it's all part of the charm. This song caters perfectly to the younger crowd, giving a more catchy and playful vibe.

JAEHYUN"s rap on the other hand is far from dull and boring. His style of rapping is one that I find quite unique. Usually I talk about how in K-Pop Boy Groups there's a attitude rapper and a swaggy rapper but somehow, JAEHYUN is both. His flow is seriously insane and the fact that it's mostly self-written? I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be considered one of the best 5th Gen rappers.

Overall, I think this song is pretty damn good. It gives off a playful and fresh vibe that I think fits perfectly with their concept of quite literally being the boy next door. Of course it's not perfect but nothing really is. I highly recommend giving this album (HOW?) a listen!! Some personal favorites include "Dear. My Darling" and "lifeiscool" for a more jazzy and melancholic feel :) Also, I heard that this album was mostly self-written and produced by TAESAN. If that's actually true than this album deserves all the recognition because for a so-called rookie group, they're already doing so well.
