In all honesty, I was really skeptical of "The Rizzness" due to the sheer fact that the title was a little silly but after being persuaded to listen to the song (and watch the stage, highly recommended by the way) I have to admit, this song is not only catchy but also pretty amazing. So let's get into it :D
It's no secret that Taemin's vocals are heavenly so of course it made the song that much better but it was the instrumentals that gave the song an impact. When listening to the instrumentals alone, you'll notice that the instrumentals for the intro and chorus are almost the same which I think made the lyrics stand out so much more especially with it being "You know I got the rizz". The simplicity of the instrumental during this lyric paired with the vocals gave me CHILLS. It kind of reminds me of the anti-beat drop in "Bite me" by Enhypen. I'm sure that was the sort of effect both songs were going for; instead of jumping straight into a strong climactic chorus, you get surprised and more hooked onto the song making the eventual beat drop more satisfying. In "The Rizzness", this worked perfectly because right after "Sit down and listen up" you get this beautiful, jaw-dropping instrumental consisting of a strong bass, an electric guitar solo etc.
What made the lyric "You know I got the rizz" impactful was also the simplicity of it. With the absence of ad-libs, harmonies or even a doubling track, Taemin's vocals sounded so clean making this song hit so much harder.
One small semi-sad thing about this song was that the last chorus didn't really end the song off on a strong note, it was weaker than "Guilty" last chorus which kind of sucked because "Guilty" really got my hopes up for the rest of the album. However, his ad-libs like "Oh no" did make up for it a little but overall ending was a little too weak FOR ME (just my opinion).
ALL IN ALL, I love Taemin (if only he loved me) and he does in fact have the rizzness since this song I once lightly made fun off actually became one of my most liked songs on this album. Don't judge a song by it's title guys, "The Rizzness" slaps.
IT'S TIME!!

Ladies and gentleman, it's time for my favorite song of the album: "She loves me, She loves me not"!! This song has me in a chokehold and here's why :)
From start to finish this song made me feel like I've went through 7 divorces and 11 heartbreaks. Starting off with the instrumental intro, the notes played set off the perfect mood of sadness and loneliness. I've talked a lot about how Taemin's instrumentals in his songs is what makes the song impactful and strong however, in this song it was his vocals that made this song so meaningful and emotional.
Taemin has this almost sort of natural vibrato when he sings and he always sings with so much emotion and passion which is evident in this song especially.
Throughout the verse and pre-chorus, Taemin's vocals have this raw emotion that really sets the mood of the song and makes the listeners cry (might be just me). Specifically, the lyric "아름다운 건 (love, love, love)" was sung in a way that I think Taemin purposely made the first portion very thick and heavy while making the last syllable light. This switch made this song so painful and heartfelt. Then in the chorus, the instrumental during "She loves me, she loves me not" was quite and simple but then was switched to a stronger bass and drum accompanied by Taemin's harmonies and doubling vocals in "What should I do?". This in my opinion perfectly describes what someone feels in a scenario like this, when you're wondering what the hell you should do and if you should make a move or give up. So many questions in your head that it's so chaotic in there which was perfectly represented by Taemin's vocals in this portion.
"차가운 바람 속, 그늘이 짙은 곳, 남겨져 나 홀로". THESE LYRICS OML. Taemin made these lyrics very heavy with meaning and in his singing. In terms of vocals, he sang it with a heavier tone which is perfect because the lyric translates to essentially being left alone in the dark and cold. He sang it so painfully and with the vibrato at the end of each syllable, the lyrics HURT ME SO BAD. Furthermore, for the lyric "희미해진 향기만이 맴돌아", Taemin made his vocals linger and extend to the next 1 or 2 lines which follows the meaning of the lyric itself "only a faint scent lingers". In his last chorus, all of the lines has harmonies and doubling tracks which makes it seem like all the voices in his head are just getting stronger and stronger and "she" is all he can think about. Finally, he ended the song beautifully with his simple vocals accompanied by an acoustic guitar. A beautiful song ended on a beautiful note. What a musical genius.
Very evidently, I love this song so much. It truly is amazing and a work of art. Taemin's talent is so clear in this song with the way he makes sure each lyric is filled with meaning and that the meaning can be shown by his heavy to light tones. This soul-crushing song will remain as my favorite in this album.
